American Freedom Defensive Training Institute, AFDTI
was started after I became a Concealed Pistol Instructor. I began to
run into individuals who were CPL or CCW holders who did not know how
to present from the holster or from concealment. I began by taking a
look at the various shooting disciplines that were available here in
Michigan and I decided that NON BITTER "Clingers"
such as myself needed to have ongoing training to develop and keep the
muscle memory necessary to be truly effective in a real life situation. I
recently came across an ABC News short that really helps me to drive
the point home that Concealed Pistol Licensees need regular training.This
short has an underlying anti-gun bias but I do believe that there is
some truth in it based on my own experiences, here in Michigan and where

Defensive
handgun techniques are not just about accuracy and
speed, which are two very important aspects of any gun discipline, but
mindset
is key to carrying a hand gun responsibly. Tactical Handgun Techniques
are also important aspects that are often overlooked. If you are
currently going to the
range and shooting at a target with your pistol being presented from a
bench in
front of you, you are not developing the muscle memory that is necessary
for
you to survive in a real defensive handgun situation. If you have a CPL,
whether you carry or not, and you live in "CODE WHITE" tweak your awareness to a "CODE YELLOW". . . AND COME TRAIN WITH US!
AFDTI is not trying to imitate any of the many sports oriented disciplines that are available to handgun enthusiasts. What we are attempting to do is to break down into small affordable packets the training that others including myself have paid dearly for. If you train with us at least once a month and then take what you have learned home with you and dry-fire practice what you have learned at least every other day, if you work to develop a steady self controlled mindset considering the tactical information that you will be receiving, you will be on your way to becoming a truly responsible handgun carrier.
